Check -in process:I stayed at this hotel in February 2003. I can agree with the common thread throughout, their check in process needs some improvements! We arrived about 3:30 pm and were told the rooms were not clean and it would be a couple of hours before we were able to get the keys to our rooms. I told her I wanted to make sure we had two beds and hopefully getting there that early, it would be possible. She said it shouldn't be a problem. We left and returned about 6:00 pm. Had to wait in the check in line once again. Was given a room key and was checked in by the same girl we had spoken to originally. Walked in the room - had ONE bed! Went back downstairs, where we again waited in line. Originally was told we couldn't switch rooms. After requesting to speak with the manager, we were moved to a room with two beds. This started on the wrong foot because their customer service was lacking and I felt I had to 'fight' to get what should be 'no problem'Room: We were on the 4th floor, facing the strip. The room itself was okay - not a 4-star, but clean and somewhat simple. For the money, it was a good value. The bed was extra comfy and the air conditioning worked VERY well! :) The water pressure was good too. Restaurants: The only restaurant we tried was the Orchard. It was pretty decent actually. We had the steak. I must give them credit there, it was wonderful! Drinks: I don't drink a lot, so I may not be the best judge, but I tell ya, those mudslides slid right down and were quite tasty! Overall - Average. Be ready to deal with a lengthy check in process and be prepared for some bumps in the road. The good outweighs the bad start....I am heading there next Saturday for one week....this time at the Atrium part.
The New Frontier was what I expected. It is an older hotel. The room I stayed in was in the older part of the hotel. The decor was older but I am happy to report that my room was clean. The hallway and elevator were run down and could use some work. The casino itself was ok. The employees were friendly. I don't have alot of money to spend on vacations. I was able to stay in a cheaper hotel and spend the money in the casino. I would stay again.
The Frontier is a wonderful hotel without all of the crowds. You can feel safe here. Being one of the oldest hotels on the strip, it is in wonderful shape, very clean and great atmosphere. Gilley's is such fun, we would stay here for that fact alone!
I made a reservation 2 weeks through their online service for $59.95 per night for two nights Friday and Saturday night. We arrived Friday night late about 12 midnite and got inline. The line wasn't long but it took almost two hours to get to the clerk. There were only two people working and each person was taking about 15 minutes to check-in. We wondered why until we got to the front desk. They informed us that we already checked in. How could that be when we just arrived there. They had checked in other people with our reservation. What a debacle! I asked and they reassured me that the people checked into my room would not be charged to my credit card. (more on this later) We were tired and needed a room to stay. So the lady took another hour trying to find us a room. What they were doing was bumping out other people with reservations for they were overbooking. Many customers were also pissed because their keys weren't working. We finally got a room after a 3 hour wait. The room was okay for the price. I checked the tv for the room charges just to make sure before checking out and it looked okay. $135.00 for the two night. However, a couple of days later I check my credit card statement and I was charged $65.35 for the reservation for the first night and another $282.94 for the second night! I was overcharged by $213.00. I have been trying to contact accounts receivable at the hotel but they are not answering and not returning phone calls. Don't be fooled by the low price they quote you. They will get it back in other ways.
We have a group of 15 people to stay at the New Frontier and have had a great time. Staff is very nice. I had a problem with my bathroom and called the front desk and in minutes someone was their to take care of the problem. The best food . They need more entertainment. We have stayed their for the last 3 years. The rooms are great and the service is great. Plan to stay there this year in July. Thanks a million. |
